Los premios se entregarán el 16 de enero en Los Ángeles. El discurso del Rey es la película más nominada en cine, mientras que en televisión Glee cuenta con más candidaturas.
En la jornada del martes se dieron a conocer los nominados a los premios Globo de Oro a lo mejor del cine y la televisión según lo anunció la Asociación de la Crítica Extranjera de Hollywood (HFPA). El acto fue presentado por Josh Duhamel, Katie Holmes y Blair Underwood.
El filme que cuenta con mayor cantidad de nominaciones es la británica El discurso del Rey que es candidata en siete rubros, seguida por Red social, de David Fincher, y The Fighter, de David O. Russell con seis candidaturas cada una. Asimismo, en lo que respecta a la televisión la comedia Glee es la más nominada con cinco candidaturas.
